I have a problem with science vs religion. I've found often that science PROVES religious tenents in many, many cases! As an example, keeping a Kosher kitchen is difficult and time consuming task, but the incidences of salmonella poisoning coming from a kosher kitchen are non existent. The Buddhist belief that eating pork is evil derives from the sanitary conditions that pigs are kept in and the fact that diesase is transferred to humans from poorly cooked pork. (zoonotic diseases are more likely to be coming from pig to man than from beef to man because of our physiologic similarities). These are just a couple of things that science has "found the reason for" and that certainly do not prove religion in it's many forms as superstitous nonsense. I will reply to this in depth on my site, but I want to start by saying that my atheist views may not match up with the larger atheist community. You've brought up some great points, some things I will rebut point for point, (history lessons are my fave) and discuss why it is that atheists are suddenly becoming more vocal and "demanding".
