Prayer going well

June 13th, 2010 by Craig Hansen

Well, here we are a few months after Stan finished up his prayer study and, fortunately, I am still bearing the fruit of the commitments I’ve made to more regular, longer and deeper times of prayer. Do I still have room to grow in prayer?

But is my prayer life a lot better than it’s ever been? Yes.

I’m grateful for what Stan taught in that study and for the benefits it has reaped; being able to more clearly hear directly from God. When you hear from God directly, it’s less common to “wonder” what God’s will for you is. He makes it clear for himself and seeking advice from others is far less necessary.

I would encourage anyone seeking to know God better to spend at least an hour a day in prayer, as close to every day as you can manage to achieve. And challenge yourself to achieve it. There’s no substitute for intimacy with the creator of the universe.

I would deeply second that suggestion to spend at least an hour in prayer. I already do that. Is there an online link to the rest of Stan’s teaching? I have serious questions about prayer, and why some people’s prayers seem to help me when praying for myself seemed less effective… Or something like that.

    Meg,

Unfortunately, Stan’s prayer study isn’t on any kind of recording because of the unique nature of his study; he does 15 minutes or so of teaching on prayer, then provides about an hour of prayer time with worship music playing while we pray and seek God.

Not something that works well on an audio teaching, unfortunately.

Nice! Teaching like that should be heeded; I very strongly recommend at least one hour of prayer. OK, so any chance you could maybe share some highlights of the kind of thing he says? Seriously, if anybody expects this country to even slightly pull out of this slide into depravity, we have got to try harder.
